Leveling a priest is a bitch. I’m a level seventeen blood elf priest (on my way to being full shadow)…well leveling sucks. Priests have some great talents. I’d say stock up on mana restore potions. When you’re out of mana you’re basically screwed unless you have the potions. Extra healing potions incase you can’t use your healing ablity due to low mana. Last of all, try to get someone to send you a recruit. Otherwise…this was very helpful. 20 plus sides to being a shadow priest.

The lack of AoE, and the dps divide between other range casters and SPriests is what is on my mind at the moment. I’m considering changing to a Priest as my “first to 80″ toon, but these two factors make it a difficult choice above a Warlock, Ret pally, or Druid.

Sweet Blog – good for you! I am a lvl 55 Blood Elf (that’s right), but I have the utmost respect for the Game and for your efforts in educating and providing valuable insight information on your Blog!

I am NoT a teenager, either. I am a grown-up, 40 years old, professional woman. I play with my husband who is a lvl 70 everything! (he’s a show-off). He has a lvl 70 Shadow Priest, too…just on the “other” side…hehee.

We enjoy our online community…and the thrill and the “skill” of the game!

Just wanted to say great job. I will tune in to see more later. Keep up the good work.

Was trying to make it less like a wow wiki entry and more like a general things you may not have been aware about a shadow priest next and alas I stopped at 20… but ta for the feedback..

Shadowform doesn’t reduce the damage you take by 15%, it reduces physical damage taken by 15%. It doesn’t affect magic damage (which most environmental damage is).

Mind Control can last up to a minute and Shackle Undead can last up to 50 seconds (at max rank); Mind Control is the longer-lasting spell. It is channeled, though, and an interruption of its channeling is a leading cause in the premature termination of it.

You shouldn’t see any shadow priests who spec for Divine Spirit. Given its placement in the Discipline Tree, too many points would have to be sacrificed from the Shadow Magic Tree to get it. You would have to give up Vampiric Touch! VT is what makes your DPS sustainable. Leave Divine Spirit to the healers to spec for. A shadow priest should never have it.

You mentioned Shadow Weaving, but forgot Misery! A 5% increase of all magic damage done in a raid is HUGE!
