I was at 235 fishing and boy did that take months to get there! I spent one hour in the canals in Stormwind just casting repeatedly until I got to 285 fishing.

At 285 fishing you can fish in Hellfire, but you won’t catch anything, so I used the Baubles to up my skill and fished the pools in Terrokar Forest. Golden Darter pools abound and within an hour I had caught 60 Golden Darter.

Once you’ve got a goal like catching the darter, crawdads, or other food buff fish, fishing becomes a whole lot more enjoyable!

Remember that fishing levels based on successful catches as well, so fishing in lower levels where you catch every time is going to get you there faster, so go grab stacks of deviates.
