77.81 US Shipping for a Freaking USB Sized Authenticator?

I am in shock.

No: I am bent over laughing in a manical manner, with phychotic drool pouring out of my dumbfounded mouth

So the Authenticators are available to us Aussies now…

While I was in their store I decided to buy the soundtrack as well.  Trying to Pad the purchase so I browsed the limited other items in the store, and that was all that tickled my fancy.

suffered through slow connections to find.

Authenticator was  $6.50 and CD $9.99

Now add that our dollar is sitting under 0.80 US atm ( for the banks FX calc I used )  that brings the order to 118.14 Aus

Seriously.

No.

Now thinking perhaps that the system got confused, and that i can live without the CD if I saved a good portion of the shipping,  so I deleted the CD and then…

So I’ve canx the order for now.

Yes I know there is no price for security – but thats to a point… like A Medium point.

This is extorsion.  I live in metro Sydney Australia – not the behind end of the world in the middle of the desert

I think it would be cheaper to pay a courier to pick one up for me and stand in line at a po box and stick the envelope in the mailbox..

Yeah, it’s over $50 to ship to Canada. I think Blizzard needs to find a better shipping company.

I wonder if they will let me buy 20 of them – If I sold them for 16 bucks each Aus ( inc the cost of posting ( 50c) then I could make a modest profit, and cover postage..

That is sooo ridiculous… I won’t be getting one anytime soon, thats for sure.

omg that`s expensive as hell. i live in romania (europe) and i can`t order anything from USA because of the crazy post taxes.

I had heard the issue is not the shipping company, but what the product is categorized as by US export laws?

    Dunno, but that really stinks.

Account security? It’s called use a strong, secure password and don’t tell anyone about it or let others access your account. At least one number, one capital letter and between 8 and 16 characters. Add a special character like “!”, “&”, or “%” if the system allows it. Also, no words or phrases. I’ve never once had an account hacked (WoW or otherwise), and while I think the authenticator is good in theory, it’s not $77 shipping cost good.

Besides, even authenticator accoutns have been hacked since they were released. An authenticator is good security but nothing hacks an account more quickly than good old social engineering.

I’d like to think I’m pretty cautious with my securities. The authenticator would be another ‘layer’ and I thinks its a great idea, just at this point not worth the value of the shipping, I will talk amongst my aussie friends and see if enough of them want them we split the costs, can’t go to my guild as current one is not big enough, and people from old one are now even more spread out round the realm as the guild disentegrates, but cheers everyone~ /mopes in corner…

I was just reading on WoWvault forums that they have changed the shipping cost… $22 to NZ.. so I assume the same to Oz.. can’t be bothered looking right now…
