True to my word I’ve started to keep screenshots of my damage metres.
Two different Pug Heroic groups – Two different instances
I’m number 1 – ( Don’t look at my dps.. Its not that hot, )
What I would like to point out to you is the person who came in at number 2 Damage . Notice the pink colour that is the Paladin.. yes.. in both cases he was also the tank. I was competing against the tank for top DPS. There is something wrong there!
Sucessful Voilet Hold (
Failed Halls of lightening.*
*failed because the pug organiser didn’t tell us that Boss 1 was dead untill we had done clearing and he was no where to be seen.. ( If I hadn’t of been able to see boss 2 from the platform I would have left right then and there.. ) AND failed because we couldn’t get Loken down, We were trying the stand under his legs tactic, but the mage kept getting one shotted, and So I would shield him, and then not sheild me and the healer intime so one of us would get one shotted anyways, and they couldnt co-ordinate running away intime.. /sigh
Yes I have been posting more lately. I have more to say
I’ve also been approved for a 25 man tomorrow nite! Weeeee.
Where I get my coffee the coffee cart dude always pastes up the papers Starsign and comics so people can read while he is making ( very quickly) their order. My Star sign said that the people who make things look easy are the ones who put alot of hardwork into before hand, and that If I want to do the right thing I need to do alot of homework, So on the stinky hot train this afternoon – no Air con, my feet propping up the between carriage doors ( not the side doors – that would be dangerous) waiting for them to fix a derailed train – I was reading pages of 25 man strats.. at least so no matter what gets thrown at me – I hopefully won’t do something silly and die in a fire.
My lvl 75 mage makes higher DPS than those two. Have you checked their gear before starting the PuG?
Next time please don’t white out their names! Protect the other people of your server from grouping with these noobs.
Surely a level 80 DK could auto-attack to more than 1k dps? :O
What was the healers class on Loken?
The joy of PUGs 😦
As a protection paladin I know exactly what you mean. I’m usually in the top 5 (3 or 4) in Naxx raids and typically 2nd in heroic DPS meters for sustained DPS and damage done.
I think it’s just the nature of the beast so to speak, I tank by the amount of damage I deal and at times that can get pretty high considering I tank 4-5 mobs at once. Nowhere near as strong as say when I am retribution, but still overall it’s a lot.
The only class so far (disregarding geared players) that can consistently rock the damage charts is a shadow priest friend of mine. Mind sear + everything in WotLK being an AOE pull = success.
I play a prot warrior and for both CoT and VH I am often #1-#2 dps because of constant aoe burst. Prot pallies have aoe damage all the time but warriors simply have it at the start of a pull and then around 20 seconds later they can do a full aoe rotation again. So don’t feel too bad about it!
On my blog http://justmytwocopper.blogspot.com/ I post daily on how to use the auction house to make tons of gold in warcraft. Check it out!
Monday night in a 10 man Naxx raid, Macharious the paladin topped DPS.
Mach was the MT.
This wasn’t a guild run–two of our tanks and myself stepped in to help out our old raiding alliance guild–but some of their DPS is pretty solid…so why Mach rofflestomped the meters I don’t know, but it’s both hilarious and wrong.
They’ve given tanks some serious teeth when it comes to DPS now (my 73 prot warrior approves).
Still…you should be out DPSing the tank! What were your other DPSers doing, napping? Napping while not hit capped?
Tankadins are an AoE class with unlimited mana. This leads to some strange damage meters. Tanks in general are putting out a lot of AoE damage, again, without as serious of resource limits as the DPS. This means that in a fast-paced run, tanks can keep going and going while the DPS need to be more careful with their mana. Perhaps it’s a bit OP, but it’s not as if the tanks are going to take DPS slots, since they rely on reactive damage and damage taken for much of their resource generation. I can’t complain too much about something that speeds up the run, especially if I have a prot paladin too.
@Gevlon – If I checked everyone I think I would never run another pug again.. and some can be fun!
@Luc – She was a Shaman – and the DK sounded like a kid – he was hasseling the other members to join their guild the whole run.
@Spooner – Marco – Ambro – Klep – Its never been such a large percentage of damage before, weather its because its the increase in group pulls, that we are less likely to use cc, or even that classes are still killing skull first, I know that If I single target my dps goes down, so every opportunity I’m multi dotting/mind searing – this may be good for the meters but may not be good for the party’s kill order priorities,
Unfortunately, it has nothing to do with it being a paladin tank or aoe pulls or whatever. Those were simply poor players 🙂
My druid consistently does 1200+ dps as well, more if I pop berserk regularly. Any dps that can’t keep up 1200+ dps regardless of whether they are single target or aoe is simply idling. I easily do more than that, specced as bear, in cat form. And I have absolutely no aoe whatsoever as kitty. At least rogues have fan of knives >.<
That said, the most important thing is whether the run was successful and fun. I’ve had great heroic runs with decent players who did less dps than me. I’ve also had runs with people in all epics who can’t move out of random fire and refuse to kill voidwraiths (probably because it lowers their dps). Guess which one I prefer…
Grats on the 25 man run and i hope it goes well, hoping to get my first LK raid this weekend too.
That dps is shocking TBH form the others not yourself, what i have been finding in pugs when i expect people is a severe lack of +hit.
This may be the problem a lot of groups are having raiders with proper stats but non raider dps with no +hit.
