I’m seriously considering going.
Pros
Its in August – I can get holidays from work then
I’ve never been OS and I’d rather not wait untill my long service leave
I’ve already brought my flat – I can now save for a holiday
flights/accom seem reasonable ( darn our Aussie/US dollar at the moment though
There will be lots to do
I can play tourist before/after the con
It should only be a 12 hour flight. I think I can survive that.
I can go las vegas and continue my geekiness and see the star Trek experience ( yes.. its always been one of those things I wanted to see)

I won’t know anyone – though I’m sure there will be a lot of friendly people around.
Getting any of my friends organised/In the financial position to go will be impossible.

ahhh I can add that to my random things to do this year,
which already includes finishing off my Uni degree by correspondence before it becomes useless and doing an 5 week archery course.
I may not have written about it before, but I brought my own flat in december last year in a massive fit of pretending to be a grown up. ( see playing wow lets you save for house deposits) Its changed my attitude alot about what I want from life. One goal down more to go, it also gave me the strength to do things I should have done before. ( like wash a particular person out of my hair.. its working so far.)
But this is the sort of thing I should just do!
So yeah.. the more I think on this the more I want to do it.

Heya Pug, I’m not trying to rain on your parade or anything considering how much I would love to go to blizz con myself, but I have some bad news on one of your pros. On September 1st, the Star Trek Experience closed their doors. The hotel decided it wasn’t profitable enough anymore. Universal might bring it back somewhere else in order to promote the new movie, but till then it’s just sitting in storage somewhere. Sorry to be the one to let you know.
@holydueg – Oh noes! ( to be honest I hadn’t looked into it lately) but thats disappointing 😦 thank you for letting me know..
I read it last night and am contemplating taking me and the misses but we will need to wait till the EU one comes to town as im in Scotland and its a massive treck to go to USA.
My misses plays too but is not massivly into it but any excuse to go on holiday she would take it hahaha
