A Week as a Hybrid. Pew Pew Flash!

When Night Elves get mad.

 banshee-1

Its been a week, and I’ve not used my duel spec in a raid once.

I was true to my word and I  duel spec’d holy, got my talents critiqued by the guild healing  lead –  Glyphed properly.  I am half Holy priest in everything but desire to be so.

In addition I installed healbot.  Freaked out.   Disabled it. Healed some Bg’s in my DPS Pvp gear with some more spirit friendly choice pieces.

Remembered all the reasons why I hate healing –

/Yell  If you want to be healed don’t run away from me!

and

/Yell  Save the healer Save the BG!   ( Ok I made that one up)  in between get kidney jabbed by a rogue.

I’m gradually understanding healbot.  I’m using it more as a buff mod for my Main and for My Mage.  I got that part down right.  I can tell it what buffs I want on all the time, and it goes white when I am missing one.  Somewhat handy.  If I am going to be serious about being a capable healer I should be using it for healing though.

Wanted: Willing nubs to let me test healbot in an instance first.

still  – If I haven’t used my offspec in a raid in a month,  I am making it my PVP spec,  The players I’m playing against now in BGs have gotten a little harder to kill.  It seems they are using their offspecs for Pvp friendly trees.

My Fire mage is now level 73 and I love playing her again.  I used all my Pygmy oil to make some stats flasks  – and with her Herbalism I can keep her somewhat flasked and buff fooded all out .  Leveling is cruisy.

Healbot makes my head hurt. Have you tried grid? I use it mostly with clique for debuffing, but when I need to heal I’ve got it set up to track PoM, shield and weakened soul. What more does a part-time healer need???

Any of the addons are tricky as you’re managing all those different healing spells. I personally still prefer Healbot, but it might be easier just to start with Grid.

I respecced to shadow a few months ago as we had too many healers and not enough dps. Since I’ve respecced, I’ve been on one pug raid to Naxx as shadow – and healed on Sapphiron. The first guild raid was Leviathan, so I didn’t really need to be shadow. The second one was holy. And both Ulduar10 goes were as holy. I see a trend emerging – let’s hope it’s temporary.

“Save the healer, save the BG!” I am so stealing that one to macro, if you don’t mind. 😛

I have never healed anything with healbot, and I have a raiding resto shaman and a raiding discipline healer priest. I use purely Xperl, with Quartz for my casting/timing. I’ve tried grid and found an awesome video tutorial on setting it up, which is half the battle (if I could figure out how to manage my buffs with Elkano’s buff bars). http://www.wowinsider.com/2009/04/03/a-video-guide-to-grid/

    Yay wowinsider.

I’m not a pvper so healing for me is more about watching green boxes and being aware of the fight enough to know when to expect damage, and sort of where to expect it. I’m not sure what you expect it to be, being more used to a dps role. Try to stress less 🙂

@everyone – I will look at grid for sure –
    @Avonar – Repecing on demand 😦
@Valkure – I don’t like staring at little green boxes – I think you miss out on so much of the experience – I thought I’d try healing in a Bg 1st because it would get me used to moving round a fair bit and healing ( and I don’t have to babysit towers and flags) I will try and stress less. Will install grid and have another go 😛

I use both healbot and xperl myself. Healbot because of the really easily adjustable height/width changes of the lifebars, easily moving the whole raid frame around the screen, and color coding when someone is poisoned/cursed/diseased. Xperl when healbot inevitably bugs out when I DC mid fight and healbot will refuse to appear until I get out of combat again. Or maybe healbot will bug out on a single player and it’ll show the main tank at 30% HP when he’s actually topped off.

Healbot is really easy to use but have a back-up UI frame if you want to prevent disaster.
