Valid Reasons for Transfering Servers.

I think I’ve been on my server for too long.

I popped in a Seige engine in a WG match last night,  and the driver was an ex guildy. I said Hi.

I turned around at some other point in the same match to see I was being healed by an another ex guildy who is also ex guildy of the guild I am currently in on an old main

There are people transfering servers all the time.  Some do it for reasons such as  –

Transfering to be with friends and family,
Transfering to/off a Pvp server,
For a better battlegroup,
For better fitting Raid times
To a more highley populated server of what ever faction
Get off a busy server/ Get on a quiter server
To a server with less lag

They are all valid reasons for leaving a server.

My reasons are none of the above… I”ve played on a pvp server, but beyond that my main, except 1 level 21 alt all my played alts are all on one server –

I have grown up on my server, and I think now its time to leave. I don’t think thats a valid reason, and it sounds like I am not being honest about it, and maybe its not the specific details as to why I feel like I need such a drastic change – I doubt I will find any difference in asshattery – of ninjas and the nice people in any server. I am not sure if Oceanic servers have different ‘cultures’ but I think I would like to find out.

Had you been a US server denizen, I would invite you to come on down to Winterhoof. We’re a nice lil’ bunch.

I totally get it. I’ve been on my server for 2 years, most of that with my previous druid main. When I randomly pug people and a guildy outs me with my original toon name, and pugs respond like they know me…. it boggles my mind. That or a question on gen chat prompts madness and lots of shout outs. That’s sort of embarrassing though nice, too.

I count the positives. Not enough to make me leave server but definitely makes me say, quite often “I’ve been on this server too long”

You’re right, there will always be “asshattery” on every server so in that respect nothing changes. But if you are “not sure if Oceanic servers have different ‘cultures’ but [you] think [you] would like to find out,” that sounds like more than enough of a valid reason to me.

I have been feeling the same way on my server. I’ve only been in 2 guilds in my 1 year of time in this game, but it seems like people break off to form their own guild or because they didn’t like what player X said, but then they pug them for a raid. It all just seems kind of silly and petty to me after a while and I’m not sure I can play with these people any longer.

    @Krizzley – Awe thanks!
@Valkure – It does feel like a small world sometimes :)and yes I think I would miss alot of the familar faces, but the need for a sea change feeles necessary to ramp back some motivation.
@Kryilean -I think so 🙂 – but am weighing up the people who I might leave behind, even now a Rl friend thats started playing more often again. I might start with 1 Alt I’m leveling – send her over with some gold and use her to feel out the server..
@Melissa – It does make everything hypercritcal. I wonder how they manage the fine line of good relations between ex guilds and so on.
