This picture of Cartman accompanied a Kotaku article here. We recognise that the picture is from “Make Love not Warcraft – a Southpark Wow inspired episode.” That episode has done more harm then good for the image of the Average Wow player. Of course though the average Wow player wouldn’t make “very serious” threats of the like, that the subject of the article made.
The Article itself addresses a serious issue – and the players maturity level also is not representative of most of the Wow players I know, I just find it interesting that the chosen picture is not actually a Wow one, but sourced from a Wow parody. Is the image of the average gamer that bad? Surely even a Leeroy Jenkins jibe would have been better placed.
We know Geeks can be sexy; as Wired’s Annual Sexiest Geeks Annual poll (2008 results here) but not all Geeks are gamers – and not all gamers play wow – and apparently even one of the Wow playing geeks declared to be one of the Sexiest 2007 geeks doesn’t even play wow as she explains here.
I think we need a new Parody by another comedy show – though my first thought of Simpsons doing a Parody didn’t go so well either.
Marge – Homer – Bart – Maggie – Lisa in a simpsons episode could take on Mr Burns in a Instance style attack. Homer could be a bear tank, Lisa could heal, Bart would be a dps Melee, and Maggie and Marge would be range caster dps ( Maggie as a mage? and Marge as? )
Who would you think would be best placed to make over – the Wow player image in parody?
The Simpsons have done an MMO episode:

Marge would be a Warlock or possibly a Shadow Priest.
If she was a Warlock she could summon Maggie as an Imp 🙂
The problem is simple: if you log in, you see these idiots. Even if they are just 1%, it’s them you see on /2 and /1. If you get into an instance with 10 good player, you won’t remember. But you’ll remember the moron who pulled aggro every second pack.
The morons are simply more visible.
