What the others are doing on Hodir..

I went looking to see what other Shadow Priests are doing on Hodir,  and I found one that did 14k dps  Ow.

14k

Now the thing that worries me on that one,  is that their Shadow Word Death x 5 had an average of 26731 damage for each hit.  That meant that some were higher,  and some were lower.  I almost killed myself on one of our attempts due to my Shadow Word death, sure the output isn’t has  as high as the damage you do to yourself now, but still either way its taking a huge chunk off your health that needs to be healed.  I would think its rather risky,  but they stayed alive, so I guess it’s possible.

On that fight  their overall raid  DPS  had  three people on 20k dps Plus..  and the highest we have ever seen was 15k once by a warlock

Not sure how long their logs will stay up on Wow Metre online but if your interested in seeing it its here

and this one has a Shadow Priest doing 16k and another 14k one here.

I’m not feeling so good about my 11k now…

In regards to the priest that did 16 k , just to compare my gear against his They have a Imba Score of 616.35 and mine is 608.89 – they have slightly better gear,  but that should mean I can do 16kish too right?

Right.  Next week, need to break 15 K.

Have you looked at their damage taken? It could be that they move less often, so they can DPS more, but at the cost of taking more damage.
Aside from that, I’d guess there are two factors boosting their damage: a rotation better optimized for all the movement and better raid positioning for getting the various buffs, especially the fire.

@Klep – Oh your right, my 1st 14k priest is second on damage taken, and is only beaten by the tank, and number 3 is the 1st on dps, and the 16k priest was 5th on their list with 1,147 Damage taken per second.. mmmmm I am not sure my healers would be willing to make similar concession.

Another thing that might contribute to HUGENORMOUS SW:Death numbers is when they happened.

As a holy paladin, hitting a raid member with a Hand of Sacrifice during a heroism, while they were standing in a light beam and had the lightning buff would be OK by me. I can use the bubble to catch myself up without taking damage.

If you have a holy pally friend, it might be worth at least trying, since given the conjunction of buffs plus trinkets and possible other one-time-use tasties (potions, other buffs), a Hand of Sacrifice could just be what keeps you alive!

Disc priest…use SWD when you get PWSed. Unfortunately most disc priests feel they’re single target healers so not too many shields out in the raid too often.

Also about the not moving, if you stand next to the fire you take no damage from standing still. This is the whole idea of the fight. You need to get the debuff on him to 25 asap and then stand next to the fire and nuke.

Make sure the person with the sparklies goes around and hugs everybody (tank first), double crit chance and double damage on crit is rather big.
