A Horde player from one of my BG matches that I was the only Alliance Healer – left the BG and logged over and created a level 1 alt on my realm.
I’ve never created a level 1 to rage at someone that has pee’d me off from another realm. For the most any negative experiences had, is not worth creating a level 1 to grief them. It’s taking any issues you have with someone a little too far, and accomplishes what?
“I’m going to make a big bad level 1 alt and harass you”
but I hear of people doing that all the time.
I had to re-read the whisper from a level one to make sure I wasn’t being griefed but complimented.
How many people do you know that do that? Log over to someones realms to thank them or compliment them
Haha that’s great!
Before battlegrounds became cross server, I have had someone log over and compliment me once, and I’ve also done it to someone else once, who then rerolled Alliance to play with my PvP guild, hehe.
Nice. I had a hunter log an Alliance lev 1 after a Tol Barad to tell me that “I carried and could I please reroll Horde” which was sweet of him. If I think someone is playing well and putting up a great fight against horrible odds I will use the /salute emote “you salute x with respect” but it never occurred to me to whisper them. It’s definitely something we need more of.
Other than that though, I get no whispers and my husband gets charming whispers like “You’re nothing without your precious healer” and “you suck” from lev 1s who run to the nearest city, type their message, hit send and then log off so they can’t see his reply.
I don’t know why they bother griefing – a simple /ignore stops any convo on their part – and the creating of multiple characters to send messages is bordering on disturbed, compliment bombs are much preferred
I’m an old school ganker, so yeah I got people creating alts just to agitate me.
I’ve done that too! 😀 there was an alliance shadow priest who kicked my rogue’s ass all over the BfG BG. After the game I made an alt on his realm to compliment him.
Long story short he helped me improve on my Spriest and we’re realid friends now. 🙂
Glad you had such a pleasant experience too.
yours is an awesome story as well, its funny how friendships are built sometimes 🙂
I love reading stuff like that! I have never done that from meeting an opposing team in a bg but I have for arenas in really good matches. Glad to see good gamesmanship is still out there.
I used to do that when I faced other twinks in the 30-39 bracket back in WotLK. It was actually pretty awesome, especially when other people started doing it, and we formed a pretty large and well connected twink community in our battlegroup.
Sometimes I wish WoW had more ways to divide up the player base, actually. When you’re playing with millions of other people, it’s pretty hard for a single interaction to have any effect. =/
