No app required: and we will pay you to join

Didn’t take long for my then level 83 scrub Mage alt to find a guild. Standing tagless back on Proudmoore and I get asked politely if I were interested in making 500 gold and joining their guild, running a normal dungeon with them so they could cap out their days xp. Sure I said no gold required but will be grateful for the run. (30 min dps queues) So I get invited to a level 13 guild – did throne very quickly- guild xp capped out – and for helping the guild out me and another random they had picked up in sw were told we could stay if we wanted to – but if we wanted to raid we had to app .

Sweet- I say. It’s kind if funny – perhaps i was silly to turn down 500 gold , it is still a decent amount – even with economy inflation, but it was too much to accept for the little effort they asked of me. The guy who did the inviting was explaining in guild chat – they didnt have the members on and it was the first day they were not going to cap it.

I was always picky with my mains tags – wouldn’t sign guild charters or join little guilds in-between my home hunting – joining a guild was supposed to be a commitment and I would rather be tagless then in a place I didn’t care for and I assume some guilds look up a persons guild history when looking at raider apps and I don’t want there to be a million ones. Alts are different. How much rep is a person leveling their alt or chain dungeon running under their tag worth? My contribution to that guild was probably just over 100 xp – but a chain run- even on normals would add up. I did some questing and more dungeons after. Contributed to the next days cap.

Not meeting your cap? Invite us! And we will dungeon run you 1 k xp minimum.

Other then my fickle heart- I’ve been getting some very bad lag on my international Internet connections . Done all the various troubleshooting – reported to a tech, local networks are fine – there is talk of over congestion or a international cable in need of repair.  Raid healing with 3k lag  was not fun it altered my Healing style – more instants just to get them cast. More on that another time.

I’m not an Altoholic * hic

Cozmo from GTFOOTF pointed out that so many of us bloggers are playing Wow in some new or different way to maintain our motivations to keep playing,   and speaking to Kiwired from One of these Alts who has rolled even more Alts with SAN  – how SAN  ( Single Abstract Noun )  has come about at the right time for him to fill in the gaps between now and the expansion.

Alts – Special projects  – who will survive this downturn – or shall we see more Phoenix raiders  ‘die’ and then resurrect in time for the expansion with grand stories of other games, and stuff like real life stories.

The result of a current case of Altolism or  Is it ADD  is now a Level 20 Shammy – I’m feeling a little guilty.  She is a result of me dragging someone back to Wow  –  ( I didn’t mean to! ) so we are leveling together  – and at level 16 it was kinda cute running round the barrens  in my Ghostwolf and them in  druid travel form.  * scratches at imaginary flea.

On the flip side  everyone else is going through their own motivational crises with things like time and priorities  and needing a break  though some people just can’t stay away

I am hearing more and more people I raided with  – leaving the game – stopping raiding,  the higher end raiding guilds at least on my Home Server are slowly bleeding players.  We are losing bloggers gradually too. It was bound to happen – but we shall prevail..  or flail around untill we phail…

I tried to get into Star Trek online.  But I am STILL level 1.  I think I have spent more time showing other people.  See..  this is the Star Trek MMO.. i haz a Phazer! then actually playing.

I am happy to hear about the  BSG MMO so I shall be watching that for developments. I want to be Starbuck..  ” Fight them untill we can’t “

Throwing every toon in.

I joined my new guild about a month ago,  but didn’t bring  my alts over because they were comfy where they were .  One was my AH runner, and the  other my herbalist and Gm of my Alt bank, that I was semi leveling for her herbing, and now is close enough to 80 that I might as well get her those last 3 levels.

Joining a guild is like starting a realtionship – what you get out of it, often depends on how much work you put into it.   Do you give it your  all, or do  you hold something back?  Ive always held something back.  A secret Toon on the same server as an escape.  My ‘secret’ toon is now on another faction and server, but who knows when the faction change comes it, she might be ideal to to bring her over, though I must say I am enjoying questing on the other side for a change.  So on the weekend I have brought my other toons that I do potter around with into the guild.   I guess this is my committment to staying. In contrast to the week before when I was logging in only to raid, and was escaping off server as often as possible my playing time this week was mostly in my guild, and I think my experience was enhanced because of it. Guild Pvping – running instances ect ect..

I think I said too much once on vent though, rather early in the morning in my attempt to stay awake for the Twisted Nether Blogcast, and I said that this guild was the end of the road for me, and I mean it.  I don’t mean that I will be leaving the guild, or the game, but its my last hop in raiding.   I don’t think 3 guilds in 10 months is excessive, but as my 3rd wrath guild  I am tired and just want to settle down.  So the toons I play on my server I brought in, and I am hoping I stay happy enough to stay ( even if they also have 3 raiding priests..  )

Being An Expert just because you have an Alt of that Class

This thread in the WOW priest forums made me laugh so hard I was crying
Stupid things said to you in Group Part 2

Yes alot of the stories are priest specific, but the point I got from alot of them, is that the ‘stupid things’ said are often said by someone who proclaims – I have an Alt – I know your class better then you do. Yes there are people who are ebays or are just noobs, and didnt have a friend to help / or desire to learn about theory crafting, and I think even though WOW is a game, you do need a basic level of understanding the finer atributes of your class. EG
Priest spell hit @ 70 = 76 when you have 5/5 points in our talent tree in Shadow Focus.
Theres no tool bar help icon telling you your at your hit cap. ” Whats a hitcap?” someone may ask. I did once.
But especially at high end, if you are telling someone how to play their class.. You are either Dead wrong – and if you are wrong then you need to be able to listen to that persons explainations and discuss it.
or Unfortunaly dead right and then that person needs to listen to your story. But if your at level 70 running a heroric, and a Hunter in the instance doesn’t have feign death toolbarred, and when you ask why says “whats feign death?” then you need to make an executive decision, and bow out of what ever instance you were doing – or Group Kick.

But either way there are ways of diplomatically saying – Why don’t you do this.. instead of proclaiming I’m an expert because you might be wrong. Did you read all the other classes patch notes for 2.4 ? I only skimmed them. – As a priest I’ve had questions, about my Inner Fire Armour Buff ” Can I have it?” No.. and I explain.. Self buff. ” Do you have Spirit” No – its Talent tree specific, ” Before when doing Nightbane, and befor the change in 2.4 that my Antifear ward was costing me 800 odd mana to go back into shadow form each time I had to cast as it used to be a holy spell- and thats more of an effect to game play, that a person who doesn’t play that class may not know, and they should be understanding of the consequences. If the raid leader goes, acknowledged, then lets try this.. or moves me into a group with a Shaman and mana totem, than they lets me do what they need, and offsets my mana loss.
Its a learning experience, and I guess this is where age and experience comes in, if someone is acting like a 12 year old having a tantrum. /pat and leave, but you should have a basic understanding of all classes and abilities, but it doesn’t mean that you can use each of them to max effect.

Z will always be my main. Just from the sheer amount of hours invested. I don’t think I will ever know another class as intimatley. I have an Mage and Hunter Alt, and they have given me an understanding, but they are ‘speed leveled’ which is rather popular now.. I’m doing minimal instances I’m just questing with them when my rest bars are blue for the double xp, or leveling up professions on them to be of use. For my mage at least, when she gets to 70 – thats when I will start to really learn how to use her in BG’s – and Runs but Im not going to be so stupid to run her into a Heroic in greens- so I have opinions on how the classes can be used, but I am not as familar with the theory craft on their specs/class. ( but Hey I didnt even know you could put Jems of other colours into sockets untill 2 days ago.. ) So Wow is an on going learning experience, BUT – not knowing something that gets other people killed.. BAD!!
