Yes I had Porridge for breakfast & this comes from an ad for porridge where a little kid would declare ”  that’s noooo how you eat porridge” in an adorable Scottish accent.” so it’s kind of a catch phrase for you’re doing it wrong.

I have been in the portals once before in Dreamwalker on an achievement attempt as an offspec healer.  Pop green bubbles. Don’t lose your stacks – Heal the big green dragon.

I have been healing a 25 Gdkp ICC on my Healing Priest, and a 10 Icc  regularly for a few weeks now.  I usually get out going in the portals by asking for a ‘pro’ portal person. Stroking other peoples ego.  Of course everyone thinks they are pro – so I normally get to stay out.  Not this time. Icc 10.

“Ok the Two priests go in.” 

Oh crap.

I knew what to do in theory – and I was doing fine. ” Hey ma!  Look at me ” ( yes It’s corny catch phrase monday)  I would come up under the bubble and strafe up a little to pop it.  Was getting awesome stackage.   The advise I got was that lag means that sometimes you can not pop it – and I made sure my stacks didn’t drop

“Why isn’t Dreamwalker up yet?”

Heal Heal Heal Heal Heal.

Wipe.

Other priest mumbles something about losing focus or something and losing stacks.

We try again.

Wipe.

“Urhhhhhhh ” I say to the other priest who was holy for this fight .  “Why are you using “Prayer of Healing?” ( Heals all party members)  We are supposed to be healing Dream walker.  I was doing twice his healing on Dreamwalker as target.

“I don’t know – this is just how I do things –  I’m not doing too bad..   I’m not far off the other healer ( me)

“Um – but you’re not healing the dragon  – and a small discussion happens over why he isn’t flash flash flash greater healing instead. So after I clarified his understanding on serendipity – and the target we were healing.  I had to add – Could you also stick up renew on Her as well.  I noticed you didn’t cast it or a greater heal  it at all last fight.

I was telling another healer to suck eggs, and I hate that.  Even because now I am still not sure my way of doing it was the most effective. Renew up all the time. Reapply with new stacks. Flash Flash Flash Greater Heal.   Guardian Spirit where appropriate –  depending on if there is another Holy priest in raid and if her debuff is off),  I’ve seen it done before, so I have had lots of theory to work with. I also stuck a Divine Hymn in  because I noticed it was hitting Dream more than my raid as long as they weren’t taking damage.

I eventually convinced him over to my point of view.   I had to do this on vent,  and I also had to convince him with numbers – eg  the party heal your casting is only hitting a single target for….   yet if you used greaterheal with the your 3 stacks of serendipity  you will heal …    base amount.   Stick renew up as soon as you can out of the portal blah..  I was fully expecting him to blow up at me about doing it his way  

We did it my way – ( mostly.  7 ticks of  Renew on his part >< ) Dream walker:  ” I am renewed!”

Give him his due – whether it was because I was keeping my voice calm and reasonable, and not insulting his healing , and appealing to common sence,  he seemed to take the feedback ok. 

I find it difficult to instruct other people – especially strangers  – of which I have no idea how they will take it, on something I don’t feel confident about.  Even if I have numbers to show that what ever I was doing was working. 

Stuff I’ve been reading since puts priests in their best place outside the portals yet we sent the two in as holy  ( he was disc for some fights) and kept the Shammy outside,   It certainly was doable.   Would have been even better if he had put renew up! 

As for the rest of the raid.

We got Sin down  two shot, which is not bad for a  pug.  We would have had H Marrow if the mage hadn’t have been on the phone( ><  x 2)  On our way to boat. ” Oh Hai guys my dps should improve now that I am off the phone – like I have been the last 1/2 hour”

Several attempts at the LK – with the ‘best tank on the servers dps alt”  Yes that is how he was sold to us as a replacement when one of our dps had to go raid 25’s.  Best tank refused to get on vent because of his tendency to scream at fails apparently.   In vent ( where the  best tank was not)  I was told by his friend  not to mention that I disagreed with his self-declared title of  best tank on the server. Cause I know one that’s better.

But yes we failed.  Defile. Running into orbs, disease not coming off quick enough. Shammy cleansing totems bouncing the disease – only half the raid had seen the LK before, but we were getting better.  We are probably locking it out, and spending next week working on him in the 10’s group.

Healing ICC is SO much easier than dpsing.  Can I just say that.

Why doesn’t anyone bite the Shadow Priests first?

 While I don’t quite go to the length of   Keredria  and their raid’s Musical ICC  but everytime I get to Queen and the biting assignments are worked out.  I get the Oh Oh Oh Sexy Vampire song in my head

Sexy vampire,
I’m falling in love
So just bite me baby
And drink all my blood 

BITE ME ! Mainly cause  getting bitten 1st = sexy dps. Just think of all the extra VE healing you would get to the party = Less stress for healers is a good thing

Kinetic Bombs Aka Beachballs.

My Gm calls the Kinetic Bombs that Prince Valanar summons during the Blood Princes fight  Beachballs – so I’ve nicked it for the purpose of this, and I like it. It’s rather fitting don’t you think? They are bright,  bounce around, and annoy you when you cop one to the face.

I got given the task of looking after the ‘Beachballs’ on The Blood Princes fight in our 10 man.

The Balls explode when they hit the ground so they have to take direct damage to keep them up in the air. The Balls convert the damage to energy to help them float.

There was a bit of a learning curve trying to work out how a Shadow Priest can keep the balls in the air.  We have Dots, and a Channel, and Direct spells with cooldowns. I need help from our hunters pet because they often spawn on different sides of the room, and trying to run through the middle of the room when there is all other sorts of dangerous stuff like avoiding Shock Vortexs and what not can get frustrating,

as a disclaimer, we haven’t killed princes as at the time of writing this post.  Maybe we will tonight, and I shall update – but it’s something we are working on,  and I  like putting my working outs on paper.

First Key point is the balls need to take direct damage, meaning ticking dots won’t work  on it. What did work was Shadow Word Death, Mindblast and Wanding

this thread on ShadowPriest.com features a few Shadow Priests crying at having to use our wands, but they also mention that Improved Devouring Plague works for the direct damage component on cast – but the rest of the dot cast is  useless and you can go OOM spamming it for the direct damage.

Mystic Chicanery has some  good points for a Warlock assigned to Kinetic Bombs here – Locks have the advantage of having a pet to throw on one, and  while not ideal because of its cooldown – I was able to use my fiend on one, of our attempts to give me time to get across the room ( those blighters run fast ) Mystic also says ” The harder you hit them the further up they pop”  However I noticed that a couple of wand hits were more affective then  a MB or a SWD – except I really hate wanding.  Brings back memories of feeling useless on General in Ulduar.

The Kinetic Bombs  despawn after a minute or two, so you keep needing to obtain new targets, and keeping range on both balls and avoiding bad stuff got hard.

I found running around using Mindblast and Shadow Word death on cool down worked the best with some wanding and fiending in between. You may run into issues  if you are the only source of replenishment as your not MBing on VT dotted up targets as often because your running cross the room trying to save your direct damage spell cooldowns for the bomb, and try and keep sticking your dots on the Prince that is the target of the moment for DPS

Did first 4 bosses on ICC 25 man  – My better upgrades are going to come from 25  so I should do them more often.  Don’t need much loot in 10’s.   

I  thought there was going to be a war of the casters when a healer  in the 25 run complained that all non hit weapons belonged to healers after they lost the Frozen Bonespike dagger roll on Marrowgar.   Like we don’t have hit caps for a reason.  Thems were fighting words.  She wore the mage, the winner of the weapon drop  down enough  that he handed it over.  I don’t agree with that.   I felt he was guilted into handing it over.   It was a pug run.  The only rules were MS over OS. He won the roll.  The healer then compensated him with gold.   Hence the loot hand over became a financial transaction  – and thus should have been open to purchase.  If the healer had truly earned or deserved the roll  then no money should have been exchanged. I felt she bought the weapon with guilt and gold.  Give the mage his due he didn’t ask or expect the gold.  But I don’t feel loot should be negotiated in a pug run in that manner.

We had some bad luck last night – Servers karking it.  1 hour was wasted sitting on the Pc doing nothing waiting.   Not enough on for ICC  10 so we went to TOGC and we just kept wiping .  Feel so sorry for the pug that watched us wipe on beasts 4 times and left. 

It felt like there was something wrong .   I got to heal,  and  it was like something was broken,  a Pally who’s mana never runs out was complaining about mana, , and I had noticed by the end of boss 1 I was oom,   the only thing I can think of was that either spells were costing twice as much or our ” while casting” mana regen was broken.   A Rogue reported energy issues as well.  Maybe there was no replenishment,  the Pug Loc was supposed to be procing it,  but recount didn’t show it, but I shouldnt have been eating through mana so quick. 

Did a random on my main and holy priest and my Mana was ok. – May have been a less stressful load though. 

Got my SAN Priest to 16 and sat in the SAN vent for a bit listening in awe to all the girls!  Might try a few more levels questing,  then will try and hit the dungeons for a quicker leveling experience.

And Tauren Shammy is now 25 on Gundrak – Not been ganked once.  It’s supposed to be a pvp realm, and the only Alliance I’ve really seen was a couple riding through the barrens once, and one got on the boat with my from Bootybay to Rachet.   Not seeing many horde though either.  Seems like a quite realm.

Patch Week one.

I was lucky to get a Battered Hilt  for Quel’Delar in the very first ICC 5 man instance I hit on Patch night,  and after discovering they were selling for 4k on the AH  I figured – I have 12k ( at the time)   I’d rather the small upgrade it was then 4k.   So over the weekend I did the quest chain and got

I then found out they were going for 18K gold because the drop rate was nerfed , and I’m like  ” Aweee but that would have  helped me get my Rein  in a GDKP! 

The quest chain was a little running around but I thought it was fun, and not bad gold as well. It doesn’t call for you to do anything beyond your abilities. You do have to go into the new 5 man ICC’s to make your weapon. 

I healed them.   Yes.  Me.   The Shadow Priest who rants and raves about not healing has discovered that I am not too bad,  and having fun too.   ( Instant Random group love!! )   I over use Prayer of mending,   do predictive renews ( silly boomkin standing in bad stuff the whole run) and flash.   Greater heals if I feel lazy and  need to regen a little mana.

I healed all three ICC 5 mans for my hilt quest,  without the support of a tanking friend that I could trust and not get upset with me if I failed.   Everyone else was doing their thing, and I was looking at the chain,  thinking,  I can do this..  and donned my healing set and went into group.  I actually like healing Halls of reflection.  It’s a little crazy – but fun.

The chain also sends you to  the Isle,   You also get to go into the Sunwell  and then you get shackled for your efforts and accused of being a traitor.  It all gets sorted out, and  you continue on.

I don’t have my Perky Pug yet,   I need 11 more people to be random with!  I do like the Random Dungeons,  it’s making getting emblems of frost easier for heroics,  there is always something to do,  and as a healer  I get instant love,  sure I have let a few people die,  but I am running recount so am waiting for someone to tell me I fail,  then I can link the damage they just took  and tell them to GTFOTF –  ( thats only if they try to tell me I fail – it’s called forward planning)

My best Random Dungeon experience was in Occulus – a mage as we zoned in said ” I have never done this before”  and we were like  awesome!  Follow instructions  – we will help and you will be fine.  We did, they did,  and we one shotted it. Happy warm feeling.  I thanked them for their honesty.  It made the experience better for everyone.

  Worse Random Dungeon experience was also in Occulus  – Someone wanted to do an achievement  so we wiped 5 times,  they were the first to die on their drake every time  because he never ran from the explosion.

There was also someone who was Afk for all three bosses  in a run,  a undergeared tank who rage dc’d ( didn’t even leave group) when he died after  pulling too many packs  – the dps died first and I couldn’t continue to keep him up.   Two DPS that left after the 2nd boss in a run – people missing basic chants and gems,  low and lazy dpsers ( HOLY DPS FTW) ect.  But yeah.  Have been happy with it so far.

,Between a ICC 10 man clear, and two bosses on ICC 25  I now have 31 Emblems of frost badges,  so by this time next week I am planning on buying the 60 Badge cloth shoulders,  because I am not guaranteed a spot in any raid as I am only casual,    I did some 10 man ICC farming to get halfway to friendly with the Ashen Deathsworn, and after the ICC 10 and half of  25 I got my friendly ring,  which isn’t an upgrade,  but the honoured will be.
